Asia Cup 2025 India Squad

The Asia Cup 2025 is around the corner, with the ACC tournament set to commence on September 9. The countdown has started as the teams have begun their preparations in what will be the 17th edition of the event.

The Asia Cup 2025 will be played across two venues in the United Arab Emirates, in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The final is scheduled to be played on September 28 and will see a total of eight teams participating in the tournament, which will be played in the T20I format.
The Indian Cricket Team will be one of the hot favourites to win the Asia Cup 2025. They are placed in Group A along with Pakistan, UAE and Oman and will open their campaign against the home team on 10th September at Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. The upcoming edition of the tournament will also see some key players miss out on the event despite ranking among the best batters in India.

Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rinku Singh to not Feature in Asia Cup 2025 India Squad

The Asia Cup 2025 India squad has been the talk of the town. The team will be captained by Suryakumar Yadav, who is on his road to recovery after the sports hernia surgery, but there's no clarity on the other members. Amid all the doubts, the reports in PTI have given a fair idea about the Indian squad. The reports claimed that Yashasvi Jaiswal Asia Cup spot is under jeopardy as there will be no place for him, Rinku Singh, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, and Sai Sudharsan in the team since the top five have already been decided.
It is learned that Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson will open the innings for India in the Asia Cup 2025. They have done an incredible job with the bat in the last few series, and the selectors are keen to continue with them.

Following them will be Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya as the selectors believe it won't be a great idea to disturb the core. This means that there won't be a place for Yashasvi Jaiswal Asia Cup spot is no longer available.

Speaking to PTI, the source close to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said: “Abhishek is currently the top-ranked T20 batter in the ICC rankings. Sanju was brilliant with both bat and gloves last season. Shubman had a strong IPL, and his Test form is incredible, but fitting everyone into the top order will be a big challenge."

Fight Between Axar Patel and Shubman Gill for the Vice-Captain Spot

The reports added that one of Shubman Gill or Axar Patel will be deputy to Suryakumar Yadav in the Asia Cup 2025. Patel was the vice-captain of the team in the last series that India played, while Gill has impressed many with his leadership during the recently concluded Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025.

There is also a race between Jitesh Sharma and Dhruv Jurel for the second wicketkeeper in the side. It is learned that after winning the Indian Premier League (IPL) with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Jitesh has made a strong case.

All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy is also set to miss the Asia Cup, and in his absence, Shivam Dube, who made a comeback against England, is likely to step in as the backup all-rounder to Hardik Pandya. Not only this, but even Jasprit Bumrah is expected to be part of the series.

Along with him, Arshdeep Singh and Prasidh Krishna will be there as other fast bowlers. While Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, and one of Kuldeep Yadav or Varun Chakravarthy will boost the spin department.
