BREAKING! Indian Connection Found in Nepal Premier League Match-Fixing Scandal

The ongoing Nepal Premier League 2025 has just started its second edition and is receiving major attention this year. The season has attracted many international players, commentators, and presenters who highlighted the boom of Cricket in Nepal and also the success of NPL. The league is gaining strong visibility in international cricket, thanks to Nepal's efforts at the global level, which will help the local cricketers to become one of the richest cricketer in Nepal in the future.

However, despite its many positives, NPL 2025 faced negative attention due to the NPL Match-Fixing Scandal. This incident has now raised concerns over NPL Transparency and illegal NPL betting activities.

What is NPL Betting Racket?

During the ongoing Nepal Premier League 2025 edition, a major fixing scandal has been exposed by the Nepal police at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. Police confirmed the news and stated that they have arrested two individuals who allegedly tried to offer money to NPL players to fix match situations. The arrested have been identified as 8-year-old Dilpreet Singh from Ranimahal, Panipat, Haryana, India, and 24-year-old Revika Singh Thakuri from Bardiya’s Barbardiya-8, currently living in Chandigarh, India. Police arrested them in Lazimpat.
According to investigating officers, the suspects contacted NPL players through Social Media such as WhatsApp and Instagram. Revika, a convicted female, reached out to about six or seven players under the pretext of offering player sponsorships. One player responded, believing it a legitimate opportunity. After, few initial messages, Dilpreet and Revika travelled to Kathmandu and arranged a meeting with the player at his hotel.
During the meeting, they offered 1 crore Nepali rupees if the player agreed to get run out intentionally during the match. The player immediately denied and rejected the offer, informing management regarding the NPL Betting Bookies. The team later reported the matter to Kathmandu police, which later carried out the NPL Police Arrest and held the suspects.

Authorities also revealed that both individuals were running NPL betting operations using WhatsApp and Instagram. They have been sent to the District Police Office, Bhadra Kali, Kathmandu, for further investigation and action, according to SP and spokesperson Kaji Kumar Acharya. After it, the police have become more active and have deployed liaison officers with each NPL team to ensure no other NPL betting racket attempts affect the league’s integrity.

Nepal Premier League 2025: Teams, Players, and Growing Importance

Organised by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), the league will feature eight teams with a lot of famous international cricketers, making the NPL event more competitive and globally recognised. The league will follow a round robin format, which will later have playoffs where the top four teams on the NPL 2025 Points table will make it to the playoffs. With increasing international player participation and fan interests, NPL continues to grow as one of Nepal’s most important cricket events and becoming one of the biggest cricket leagues in the world in the future.
