Prithvi Shaw Fight

Prithvi Shaw made a bold statement as he began a new chapter in his domestic career, slamming a brilliant century for Maharashtra against his former team, Mumbai. On October 7, Shaw was taking on the very side that shaped his early career. The opener looked determined from the start, bringing up his hundred in 140 balls.

Prithvi ended up scoring a magnificent 181 runs. However, he got involved in a heated argument with his former Mumbai teammates, including Sarfaraz Khan brother, Musheer Khan, after he was dismissed. Over the last few years, he has been facing a lot of criticism over inconsistency and fitness concerns, but Shaw’s move to a new team seems to have sparked a fresh sense of purpose for him.

Prithvi Shaw gave fans a glimpse of his best form with the bat as he stood out during Maharashtra’s three-day warm-up match against Mumbai, which started on Tuesday, October 7. After spending eight years with Mumbai, Shaw recently switched to Maharashtra. He has been working hard to bounce back from some tough seasons and played a statement knock, scoring 181 runs off 219 balls.

Prithvi was dismissed by the Mumbai all-rounder, Musheer Khan. He got into a heated argument and showed his bat to the bowler. The heated conversation continued as Mumbai players gathered around Musheer. In the end, the umpire intervened and asked Shaw to move back to the pavilion. Shaw turned behind again and again said a few nasty words to his former teammate Siddhesh Lad.

Arshin Kulkarni, Shaw’s opening partner, also made his mark in the match with an impressive 186-run knock off just 140 balls. The opening stand was of a mammoth 305 runs. Since moving to Maharashtra, Shaw has had a promising start. He kicked off his stint with the team by scoring a century in the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament against Chhattisgarh.

Prithvi Shaw, who has played five Tests and six ODIs for India, has been trying to rebuild his career after a difficult phase. He was left out of the Mumbai Ranji Trophy squad last season due to concerns surrounding his discipline and fitness. His last outing for Mumbai came in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy final, where they lifted the title with a five-wicket win over Madhya Pradesh.

After that, he missed the remainder of the domestic season and went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega-auction, adding to the setbacks he’s been working hard to overcome. Once considered one of the best batsmen in India, Shaw's absence from the national team has been a huge disappointment for his well-wishers.

Prithvi Shaw Slams the Selector's Door After Daddy Hundred Against Mumbai

After scoring a century in the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament as well as during the Maharashtra vs Mumbai warm-up game, Prithvi Shaw opened up about his mindset.

Opening Quote

"I don't mind coming from scratch again because I've seen many ups and downs in my life. And I've been up there, I've been down there, I've come back up. So, everything is possible, I feel. I'm kind of a very confident guy, confident in myself, my work ethic. I feel, I hope that this season will go really well for me as well as for my team."

Closing Quote

Shaw, who famously captained India to victory in the 2018 U19 World Cup, made his Test debut later that year as a teenager and was once seen as the next big name in Indian cricket. He was once in the batch of players like Shubman Gill, who has transformed into one of the best batsmen in the world.

However, Shaw's journey hasn’t been smooth in recent years, with form, fitness, and off-field issues obstructing his progress. He last played for India in 2021 and also remained unsold in the IPL 2025 auction. Still, with his recent performances, it looks like the discarded India opener is determined to turn things around and is slowly finding his way back.
