An Indian cricketer who participated in the 2024/25 Ranji Trophy has now been allowed to play in a franchise-based Caribbean T10 League. This has raised several doubts across the Indian domestic circuit, considering the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) policy of not allowing active Indian players to participate in overseas leagues. It has also been speculated whether the player had granted permission from the BCCI to play before joining the league.

The name of the player Rishi Dhawan, the former India all-rounder, who is a part of the league with several other Indians. Dhawan has represented India in three ODIs and one T20I in his international career. He scored 12 runs and picked up a wicket in his ODI career while also claiming a wicket in a single T20I match, which was played against Zimbabwe. Apart from that, he didn’t get many opportunities on the international platform.

Rishi Dhawan Caribbean T10 Eligibility

The veteran all-rounder is currently an active player in domestic cricket, representing Himachal Pradesh. He recently played for the team in last season’s three competitions, which are the Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy, and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Since India men cricketers are not allowed to play in overseas tournaments while they’re active, the question arises about Rishi Dhawan Caribbean Max60 participation.

Earlier this year, in January, the 34-year-old announced his retirement from limited-overs cricket after the conclusion of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He announced his retirement through an Instagram post, writing, "It's with a heavy heart, even though I have no regrets, that I'd like to announce my retirement from Indian cricket (Limited over). It's a sport that has defined my life for the past 20 years. This game has given me immeasurable joy and countless memories that would always stay very close to my heart.”

The players who have retired from international and IPL cricket are allowed to take part in overseas T20 leagues like the Big Bash League (BBL), SA20, Caribbean Premier League (CPL), and others. As Dhawan is no longer an active player in the white-ball format in domestic cricket, he is allowed to play in any overseas league across the world. This confirms Rishi Dhawan Caribbean T10 eligibility. Not just him, even former India pacer, Ankit Rajpoot, who also retired from international cricket last year’s December, has participated in the Max60 tournament.
