Highest Base Price in ILT20: India Legend Shatters Records

Ravichandran Ashwin, the experienced Indian off-spinner, has signed up for the October 1 for the ILT20 auction. In order to pursue chances in T20 competitions, he stated last month that he was retiring from the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The highest base price of any player, USD 120,000, has been set by Ravichandran Ashwin for the first ILT20 auction. It was a surprising decision from the former India off-spinner to register such a high price. However, it remains to be seen whether he gets selected at such a huge price given that he is retired now and mostly stays away from the game. The ILT20 auction is scheduled on October 1 in Dubai.

ILT20 Auction Overview

The ILT20 teams had completed their direct signings and retentions in July. Each team may spend up to USD 1.2 million on direct acquisitions and retentions; the remaining sum will be put into the USD 800,000 auction budget. Franchises will have to spend at least USD 1.5 million, although they can spend their full USD 2 million purse. Additionally, franchises are allowed to purchase up to two wildcard players outside of the auction for an extra USD 250,000 under the ILT20 regulations.
A minimum of 19 players and a maximum of 21 players, excluding wildcards, are required under the squad composition regulations for each franchise. A minimum of eleven players from Full Member nations, four from the United Arab Emirates, one from Kuwait, one from Saudi Arabia, and two from other Associate nations must participate. The teams will also have a single right-to-match (RTM) card, but they may only use it to repurchase a player from the United Arab Emirates. That player must have been a part of the 2025 team or the franchise's development squad.

Ravichandran Ashwin to Join BBL

After his IPL retirement, R Ashwin is aiming to play some of the biggest cricket leagues in the world. December 14 to January 25 is when the BBL begins, while December 2 to January 4 is when the ILT20 will take place. He will almost certainly not be able to play the entire season in both events because of the clashing matches.

According to current plans, Ashwin will begin in the ILT20 before traveling to Australia for the BBL, where he won't be available as of now. He acknowledged that getting to the UAE wasn't easy. Furthermore, according to the sources, the legendary offspinner is also going to play in The Hundred in the UK or Major League Cricket (MLC) in the USA.
