Cole McConchie is an off-spin bowling all-rounder who gives a great option with the bat as well. However, the New Zealand team management decided to go with an extra pacer for this particular match. Jacob Duffy has been appointed Cole McConchie replacement for the IND vs NZ T20 World Cup Final.

There's a mix of red and black soil on Ahmedabad's surface, so there can be extra bounce which will help the pacers early in the innings. It might be the reason behind New Zealand dropping Cole McConchie for the IND vs NZ final 2026 match. Adding to it, his replacement, Jacob Duffy is one of the best T20 bowlers in the world right now.

McConchie's absence for the ICC T20 World Cup final comes as a big surprise since he picked up two crucial wickets in the semi-final against South Africa. Both of them were big wickets and he played a part in New Zealand's emphatic win. However, he didn't get to bowl further in the match.

NZ’s Lack of Off-Spin Helps Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan

New Zealand are playing without any quality off-spinner. They do have a part-time off-spinner in the face of Glenn Phillips, but it became difficult for them to create trouble for left-handed batters like Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan, two of the best T20 batsmen at the moment. Apart from him, the Black Caps only have Mitchell Santner, who is a left-arm spinner who might not even bowl against these batters.
