The right arm off-spinning all-rounder, Shreyanka Patil, has been confirmed as Kranti Goud replacement as the team management decided to bring in one extra spinner for this game in place of a pacer. The pitch in Sydney is usually favorable to the spinners and it might have played a role in India's selection.

Kranti Goud played a key role in India's historic Women's World Cup 2026 campaign, where she bowled to some of the best women cricket teams in the world. The right-arm pacer picked up 9 wickets in 8 matches. She picked up wickets consistently with the new ball and emerged as a genuine wicket-taker for her captain. She is also the youngest woman cricketer to take a five-wicket haul, against England, in 2025.

However, she had a forgettable T20I series against Australia where she picked up just 1 wicket in two matches at an economy rate rate of more than 10. She will be looking to make a strong comeback in the ODI series.
