Why Nicola Carey is Not Playing Today in AUS-W vs IND-W 3rd T20I?

The last game of the three-match T20I series between Australia women and India women is being played on February 21, in Adelaide. This is a series decider as both teams have won one match each so far. India started the series on a winning note, while Australia levelled it in the second game.

Both teams will be looking to give their all in the third match, which will decide the winner. Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and decided to bat first. Meanwhile, Australian skipper Sophie Molineux was happy with the decision as she would have bowled first. However, she announced a change in the playing 11 with Nicola Carey missing out.

Why Nicola Carey is Not Playing Today Against India?

Skipper Sophie Molineux revealed that Australia have dropped Nicola Carey from this game as they wanted to strengthen the batting department. Australia have brought in the dangerous batter Grace Harris as Nicola Carey replacement for this match.

Harris will play her first match in the series and will be looking to make an impact. Carey hasn't been at her best this series, which might have prompted the selectors to drop her for this crucial match between two of the best women's cricket teams in the world.

The T20I series is quite crucial for both teams since the World Cup is coming up in June. Both teams are aiming to fine-tune their preparations for the major ICC event, in which they will start as favorites.

Nicola Carey's Disappointing Series Comes to an End

Australia's bowling all-rounder Nicola Carey wasn't at in her best form in this series. In the first game, she scored 12 runs with the bat and bowled a single over where she conceded 15 runs. The game was shortened due to rain, however, Australia lost it.

In the second match, she didn't get a chance to bat and conceded just eight runs in the only over she bowled. Overall, it wasn't a productive outing for the all-rounder and hence, she was dropped from the playing 11 for the AUS-W vs IND-W 3rd T20I.

After the completion of the T20I series, both teams will face each other in a three-match ODI series. It will be followed by the Only Women's Test of the tour, to be played at Perth, which has one of the best cricket stadiums in the world. It will be a historic one considering it will be Alyssa Healy's last match of her career.
