Will Auqib Nabi Make His Debut in IND vs WI ODI Series?

The Indian Cricket Team is hosting the West Indies for a white-ball series, starting with an ODI series and followed by a T20I series. The management is looking at this ODI series as another opportunity to work on the team and tick all the boxes before the mega tournament next year, the ICC ODI World Cup 2027.

India's squad for the ODI series has new faces in the side, while some of the other players are also getting another chance, replacing players who are busy at the Asian Games 2026. Two new faces in the side are Auqib Nabi and Naman Dhir, who got their maiden Indian ODI call-ups. While Nabi has been in the Indian Test squad for a while but couldn't make his debut, fans are looking forward to Auqib Nabi ODI debut.

Will Auqib Nabi Make His Debut in ODI?

Auqib Nabi, who is considered one of the best bowlers in India and has a proven record in domestic cricket in both red-ball and white-ball cricket. He has a high chance of being a part of the Indian Test cricket team, but Auqib Nabi ODI debut was never on the cards before making a mark in red-ball cricket. However, with his inclusion in the ODI squad, he holds a possibility of getting his first match at the international level.

Auqib Nabi has good control over the new ball with swing in both directions, and can also contribute well with the bat down the order. With Hardik Pandya not in the squad, and the team going only with Nitish Kumar Reddy, management can look at Auqib Nabi for a match or two to give him match time and showcase his skills. There is a chance that we might see Auqib Nabi debut match during the IND vs WI 2nd or 3rd ODI.

Auqib Nabi List A Career

Auqib Nabi, known as the Baramulla Express, has played 36 List A matches for Jammu & Kashmir to date. He has taken 56 wickets with an impressive average and economy rate of 27.37 and 5.20, respectively. Along with bowling, he did well with the bat as well, scoring 572 runs, which includes one unbeaten century. He has good control over his batting as well, with a strike rate over 110 and an average of 25+ in List A cricket.
