Shreyas Iyer Hospitalised after Massive Injury, Return Date Revealed

The India national cricket team is on the Australian tour for 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is. This is the first ODI series for the Indian team since March, after their triumphant Champions Trophy campaign. On the other Australia has lost its last ODI series against the Proteas. The Australia national team has taken an unbeaten lead of 2-0 in this series, after they won with the D/L method in 1st ODI and by a 2-wicket margin in 2nd. India needs to win the 3rd ODI to avoid a whitewash. As of now, India has never been whitewashed in ODIs on Australian soil. In this situation, Shreyas Iyer’s injury could be a major setback for Team India, as he appeared to hurt himself while attempting a catch off Alex Carey.

Shreyas Iyer Injury Update

Indian team's vice-captain, Shreyas Iyer, got injured during the IND vs AUS 3rd ODI at the Sydney cricket ground. During the 33.4th over, which was bowled by Harshit Rana, he bowled a back-of-a-length delivery outside off. Alex Carey stood tall to punch it down the ground, but a thick top edge flew high towards the deep third. It seemed destined to land safely, yet Shreyas Iyer sprinted back at full pace, judged it perfectly, and pulled off a sensational tumbling catch! The ball bobbled in his hands for a moment, but he held on firmly as he crashed to the ground, which led to his injury. Iyer's injury adds another concern to India’s growing injury list after one of the best all-rounders in India, Nitish Kumar Reddy.
