Summary
The 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN), co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, will take place this year (August 2 to August 30, 2025) in a groundbreaking format. This edition is remarkable as it represents the first collaboration among three East African nations to host the tournament, serving as an important rehearsal for their joint hosting of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
This tournament is exclusive to players active in their domestic leagues and features a record 19 teams, the highest in CHAN history. With over 50,000 fans expected to attend matches in various stadiums, Kenya's Interior Ministry has implemented a comprehensive multi-agency security strategy for CHAN 2024. Key measures include 100 per cent digital ticketing to streamline access, strict perimeter control with designated seating areas to manage crowd flow, and real-time facial recognition surveillance.
