Como 0-0 Napoli Player Ratings: Vanja Milinkovic-Savic Solid 7.5/10 as Napoli and Como Played Out a Goalless Draw

7 min
Como vs Napoli Player Ratings

A tactical chess match unfolded in the Serie A today, but it ultimately ended in a frustrating stalemate. The final score between Como and Napoli was 0-0. We saw a game full of near misses and what-ifs. It was a day when both goalkeepers truly earned their keep.

From our perspective, Como will feel they should have won this. They peppered the goal with shots throughout the game. However, they just couldn't find that final killer touch. A lot of credit for that has to go to Napoli's defense and their keeper.

On the other hand, Napoli almost stole it at the death. Matteo Politano saw his effort cruelly denied by the woodwork. This match was a classic example of two well-drilled sides cancelling each other out. Neither manager will be ecstatic, but a point is a point. Here are Sportsdunia's Como vs Napoli player ratings.

Como Player Ratings vs Napoli

Here are the Como player ratings vs Napoli.

Goalkeeper

Jean Butez - 7.0: A relatively quiet day for Butez, but he was alert when needed. He made one important save inside the box. What stood out to us was his distribution, completing 88% of his passes. He looked calm and collected throughout the entire game. A solid performance between the sticks.

Defenders

Álex Valle - 6.5: A decent outing for the defender before he was subbed off. He was involved in both defense and attack, even creating a chance with a key pass. He did get dribbled past once, which was a slight blemish. He seemed to run out of steam towards the end. A steady, if not spectacular, performance.

Jacobo Ramón - 7.0: A strong performance at the back, but he did pick up a needless yellow card. He was dominant in his duels and extremely tidy in possession with 94% pass accuracy. He even blocked a shot and made a key interception. From our perspective, he was a rock for most of the game.

Ivan Smolcic - 7.5: What an impressive display from Smolcic, one of the highest-rated players on the pitch. He was a defensive wall, winning all his tackles and making crucial interceptions. Not only that, he was a creative force, delivering three key passes. It's rare to see a defender have such a complete game. He was simply outstanding.

Diego Carlos - 7.0: An absolute beast in the air. He won 80% of his aerial duels, clearing danger time and again. His passing was crisp and accurate, rarely giving the ball away. He looked like the experienced head Como needed at the back. A really solid, no-nonsense defensive display.

Midfielders

Nico Paz - 7.5: The creative engine for Como. He was constantly looking for the killer ball, creating three chances, including two big ones. His dribbling was a joy to watch at times. The only downside was his finishing, as he failed to hit the target with his shots. Still, a very influential performance.

Martin Baturina - 7.5: Another bright spark in Como's midfield. Baturina was everywhere, linking up play and getting into good positions. He tested the keeper with a shot on target and created two chances for his teammates. We were surprised to see him substituted, as he was causing Napoli problems.

Máximo Perrone - 7.0: The metronome in midfield. Perrone kept things ticking over with incredible efficiency, boasting a 93% pass completion rate. He quietly controlled the tempo of the game. While not flashy, his positioning and ball retention were vital for the team.

Lucas Da Cunha - 7.0: The captain led by example with a busy performance. He was constantly involved, taking shots and trying to make things happen. His passing was almost perfect. He worked tirelessly for the team before being substituted late on.

Assane Diao - 6.5: A frustrating day for Diao. He got into great positions and had four shots, but his finishing was wayward. He showed flashes of brilliance with his dribbling but often lost possession. He won a good number of duels but ultimately lacked the end product.

Forwards

Anastasios Douvikas - 6.0: It just wasn't his day. Douvikas was largely anonymous and struggled to get involved. He missed a big chance that could have changed the game. He was isolated for long periods and eventually substituted. A performance he'll want to forget quickly.

Substitutes

Como made several changes including Alvaro Morata and Jesus Rodriguez, but none could find the breakthrough in the dying minutes.

Manager

F. Fàbregas i Soler - 6.5: His game plan almost worked perfectly. Como dominated possession and created numerous chances. However, the failure to convert those chances falls partly on his shoulders. The team looked well-drilled but lacked that clinical edge needed to win.

Goalkeeper

Vanja Milinković-Savić - 7.5: Napoli's man of the match, without a doubt. He made four crucial saves, three from inside the box, to keep his team in the game. His command of the area was excellent. Without him, Napoli would have surely lost this match. A top-class goalkeeping performance.

Defenders

Alessandro Buongiorno - 6.5: A challenging day for the defender. He was dribbled past twice and seemed to struggle against Como's fluid attack. He was tidy on the ball, but from our perspective, he looked a bit off the pace defensively. Not his best outing.

Amir Rrahmani - 7.0: A solid and commanding performance before his substitution. He made some important clearances and was a reliable presence at the back. His clearance off the line was a game-saving moment. It was a surprise to see him taken off.

Sam Beukema - 6.5: A decent performance from Beukema. He was calm in possession and made six ball recoveries. He didn't do anything spectacular, but he also didn't make any glaring errors. A quiet but effective game.

Midfielders

Miguel Gutiérrez - 6.5: A mixed bag from Gutiérrez. He was industrious, winning a fair few of his duels and making tackles. However, he also committed an error that led to a shot, which is a major red flag for a midfielder. He needs to be more reliable.

Scott McTominay - 6.0: A really poor performance. He was incredibly wasteful, taking four shots and failing to hit the target with any of them. Missing a big chance summed up his night. He looked more like a liability than an asset in attack. Very disappointing.

Matteo Politano - 6.5: So unlucky not to be the hero. He was just inches away from snatching a late winner when his shot hit the post. Otherwise, he was fairly quiet for large parts of the game. That one moment of quality showed what he's capable of, though.

Stanislav Lobotka - 6.5: A tidy and composed performance in the heart of midfield. He kept possession well and was clever in drawing fouls to relieve pressure. He screened the defense effectively but offered little going forward. A functional, rather than spectacular, game.

Forwards

Kevin De Bruyne - 7.0: Napoli's most creative player by a mile, but his influence was cut short. In his 60 minutes, he created two chances, including one big one. The team looked less threatening after he was substituted. One can only wonder what might have been if he'd played the full game.

Rasmus Højlund - 6.0: A completely isolated figure up front. He barely touched the ball and lost almost all of his duels. The service to him was poor, but he also did little to make his presence felt. A very quiet and ineffective outing for the striker.

Alisson Santos - 7.0: Napoli's brightest spark in attack. He was a constant menace with his dribbling and created two chances for his teammates. He was always looking to take players on and make something happen. A lively and energetic performance.

Substitutes

Andre Zambo Anguissa came on for De Bruyne, but he couldn't replicate the Belgian's creativity. The other substitutes had little time to make an impact.

Manager

A. Conte - 6.5: Conte set his team up to be defensively solid, and they achieved that with a clean sheet. However, they offered very little in attack, especially after De Bruyne's substitution. His decision to take off his most creative player seemed questionable. A pragmatic, but ultimately uninspiring, approach.
