SRH lost their last 4 matches back to back, and Abhishek desperately wanted to make their team win and dedicate it to their fans, which is known as the Orange Army. He scored a century in the match against PBKS. After completing his century, Abhishek pulled a slip of paper out of his pocket on which “this one is for Orange Army” was written.
After completing his century, Punjab's captain Shreyas Iyer took that Slip of paper from Abhishek and checked it out what was written on that. He also looked impressed with the batting of Abhishek Sharma.
This century was really special for Abhishek Sharma, as his parents were also present in the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium. Scoring a maiden century that too in front of parents, is a very proud moment for his parents. Abhishek Sharma scored his first century in the IPL, that too in just 40 balls. He got featured in the list of fastest centuries in IPL, he is in the 6th position. SRH lost the toss and was invited to bowl first. PBKS, while batting first, scored a massive 246 runs. Shreyas Iyer Punjab Kings captain, led the team from the front and scored 82 runs in just 36 balls. The way he was batting was so pleasing for the cricket fans, however, he got out on 82 runs. While chasing a massive total of 246 runs, SRH's opening batters came all guns blazing. Abhishek Sharma scored a brilliant century, and his opening partner Travis Head also scored a half-century. They had an opening partnership of 171 runs in just 12.2 overs, which made the match one-sided in favour of SRH, and in the end, SRH won the match by 8 wickets in just 18.3 overs.
