Legendary South Africa cricketer Faf du Plessis has decided to pull out the upcoming IPL auction. Du Plessis has been a big player in the Indian Premier League over the years but has decided to pull out of the auction, which subsequently rules him out of the upcoming edition as well.

The former South Africa captain has represented Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the past and played a key role for their success. He has been a part of CSK's success in 2018's title-winning run as an opener.

In a statement, Faf du Plessis decided to pull out his name from the IPL auction after 14 years. He made his IPL debut back in 2013 for Chennai Super Kings and became a key part of the team soon. Overall, he spent seven years with CSK and also spent a couple of years with Rising Super Supergiants in between, when CSK were suspended.

In the latter stages of his career, he joined RCB as their captain in 2022. He went on to lead the team for three seasons before being released before the IPL 2025 auction. In IPL 2025, he represented Delhi Capitals as the top order batter but was unable to play all the matches due to injury concerns.
