The Rajasthan Royals are exploring an alternative home ground for the IPL 2026 season after facing operational challenges at their usual venue, Sawai Mansingh Stadium, which is among the oldest cricket stadiums in India. Reports suggest that the franchise is close to finalising Pune and Guwahati as the venues where they are likely to stage their home fixtures for the upcoming edition.

In this regard, the BCCI has instructed the Rajasthan Royals, one of the best teams in IPL, to submit their preferred home venue by January 27. This deadline is to ensure that the league’s organisers have adequate time to complete the match schedule, coordinate logistics, and secure all necessary venue approvals well in advance of the season. Although the final confirmation is still awaited for the RR new home ground and is expected to be revealed in a few days.

Rajasthan Royals New Home Ground Revealed for IPL 2026

According to Abhishek Tripathi, the renowned sports journalist of Jagran, the RR management has been forced to move from their long-standing home ground at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium after the venue was unavailable following governance and administrative issues within the Rajasthan Cricket Association.

The association did not complete its election process within the given timeframe, even after multiple directives from the BCCI, which led the board to take away Jaipur’s hosting rights. So, the RR home ground 2026 is yet to be confirmed by the BCCI. This development has left Rajasthan Royals without an officially designated home ground heading into the upcoming season.

Explained: Controversy Between Rajasthan Royals and RCA

The official reason for the change in venue for the 2008 IPL champions is administrative issues of the Rajasthan Cricket Association, but there are widespread speculations that suggest the request may also be due to strained relations between the franchise and the state association.

The tensions reportedly increased during IPL 2025, when Jaydeep Bihani, convenor of the RCA’s ad-hoc committee, publicly made match-fixing allegations against the Royals following their narrow losses to Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants, both matches slipping away despite the team requiring fewer than ten runs in the final over.

The RR team management strongly denied the accusations, saying that the remarks were due to frustration within the state association over poor ticket sales. By 2026, the RCA leadership distanced itself from those claims, confirming that the individual responsible had been sacked, while formally dismissing the allegations.
