Antonio Conte to Napoli: The Serie A giants had a key meeting with the Italian manager – Reports

Antonio Conte is nearing a move as Napoli next manager at the Serie A. The veteran Italian manager has been in the news for a decent chunk of time now amidst being linked to Naples as the personnel to take the reign and replace their current manager Francesco Calzone from the 2024-2025 top-flight season.

As per the most recent reports, Napoli has reinitiated talks with Conte who has now lowered his wage demand to take over the Napoli next manager, which was earlier touted to be a major roadblock and stopping talks to be materializing between him and the Italian club. The 54-year-old does hold an extensive managerial pedigree having managed Premier League clubs like Tottenham Hotspur, and Chelsea. Also, in Serie A he has managed Inter Milan.

It is hard to predict at this point, whether he will be the right man to fulfill Napoli’s future agendas if Naples does go ahead and get the deal done. However, with the club making their interest in him imminent by re-opening the negotiations, it seems like Conte stands as the priority for them going into the next campaign. It is also worth mentioning that the 54-year-old manager has won five Serie A titles in his managerial stint so far at the highest level of Italian football.

AC Milan are also interested in Antonio Conte to replace Stefano Pioli

As per the reports, AC Milan is also keeping close tabs on Antonio Conte after earlier registering the intentions to part ways with their current manager Stefano Pioli at the end of the 2023-2024 season. Transfer market expert – ‘Fabrizio Romano’ also pointed out on one of his socials that the club does not wish to turn back on their decision to sack Pioli after the ongoing season concludes.

Antonio Conte has earlier managed AC Milan’s local rivals Inter Milan in the Italian top-flight football. He was at Inter for about two seasons, from May 2019 to May 2021. So, he does know Serie A well and throughout having experienced it in his managerial career. Both Napoli and AC Milan do know that, and maybe that’s why they are keen on him. However, as things stand now, Napoli is currently leading the Rossoneri’s in the race for Conte.
