David Raya to Arsenal

“We will review”: Mikel Arteta comments on Arsenal’s stance on going for the permanent transfer of David Raya

Following the end of the season, Mikel Arteta says Arsenal will decide whether to extend David Raya’s loan.

Mikel Arteta comments on David Raya

After moving from Brentford to the Gunners last summer, Spain international Raya replaced Aaron Ramsdale as the team’s first-choice goalie.

During his pre-match press conference prior to Saturday’s match against Bournemouth, Arteta, however, declined to confirm whether Raya will remain at the Emirates beyond 2023–2024.

Arteta said: “Those conversations are for after the season, we will review where we are. Obviously we are really happy with David and everything that he has brought to the club, to the team, there’s no question about it, but all those decisions are to be made between all of us at the club and we will see.”

While Arteta remained evasive over Raya’s future, he completely discounted rumours that Arsenal intends to let forward Gabriel Jesus go in the summer.

In response to a question regarding the Brazilian’s possible departure should the proper offer come in, Arteta said, “I don’t know where that’s coming from. No.”

What’s Next For Arsenal?

In a contrasting stance, Arteta dismissed speculation regarding the potential departure of striker Gabriel Jesus, affirming that Arsenal has no intention of offloading the Brazilian forward.

As Arsenal prepares to face Bournemouth in a crucial fixture, both the club and Raya aim to maintain momentum in their respective pursuits.

Following their upcoming clash, Arsenal’s schedule includes a pivotal encounter against Manchester United before concluding the season with a home fixture against Everton.
