The right-handed batter had a disappointing outing in the recently concluded five-match T20I series against New Zealand, where he managed to score only 46 runs in five matches at an embarrassing average of 9.20.

Amid the ongoing poor form, Samson has been dealt with another bad news as India A wicketkeeper Narayan Jagadeesan smashed a century during a T20 World Cup warm-up match against the USA. The top order batter looked in fine form and struck a memorable ton.

Narayan Jagadeesan Smashes Memorable Hundred

Tamil Nadu batter Narayan Jagadeesan was seen opening during USA vs IND A T20 World Cup 2026 warm-up match. During the first innings, Jagadeesan scored a 49-ball century, after which many fans speculated that Sanju Samson T20 World Cup spot is in danger as he is suffering from poor form.

Samson was also removed from the wicketkeeping role during IND vs NZ 5th T20I, with Ishan Kishan keeping wickets in his absence. It is likely that Kishan is now India's first-choice wicketkeeper for the upcoming World Cup. The left-handed batter, who is also one of the most dangerous batsmen in the world, was in great form during the IND vs NZ T20I series, scoring 215 runs in four matches, including a century.

Now, the question arises whether Narayan Jagadeesan century earns him a spot in Team India as the second-choice wicketkeeper in the team, replacing Sanju Samson. However, it is unlikely to happen at this point as the Indian team management looks set to back Samson.

He smashed 11 fours and four sixes during the knock, with an impressive strike rate of 189.09.

Interestingly, Narayan Jagadeesan hundred has come against the USA, and the Indian team will be playing their first game of the T20 World Cup 2026 against the same team. It suggests that the right-handed batter might be considered for the squad. However, the team management wouldn’t want to make late changes to the team.

Jagadeesan also stitched a 113-run stand for the second wicket with Tilak Varma. India A skipper Ayush Badoni also smashed a 20-ball fifty as India A scored 238 runs in the first innings.
