WATCH: Rishabh Pant's Stumps Sent Flying by a Peach from Jofra Archer

England registered an early breakthrough on the final day of the third Test at Lord’s as Jofra Archer bowled Rishabh Pant with a brilliant delivery. The ball angled in from wide of the crease, moved away slightly. It beat Pant’s outside edge and knocked over his off stump. Pant was out for just 9 runs off 12 balls, which included two boundaries.

India are chasing 193 runs to win the Test and take a 2-1 lead in the five-match series. But things are not going as planned. The Men in Blue ended Day 4 on 58/4 and lost Rishabh Pant early on Day 5. They also lost KL Rahul and Washington Sundar, which put England on the course of a famous win.

Jofra Archer Lords Test performance put his team ahead of India in the first session of the final day. The Indian top order collapsed late on Day 4. In just 17.4 overs, India lost four big wickets. England took three of those wickets in the last 30 minutes of the day.

India Struggling at Lord's

The visitors' problems began with opener Yashasvi Jaiswal as he was dismissed for a duck early in the innings. KL Rahul then tried to build a stand with Karun Nair. But Nair got out in the 13th over. He scored 14 off 33 balls before giving away his wicket to Brydon Carse.

India’s captain, Shubman Gill, came in next but couldn’t last long. England put him under pressure right from the start. Gill faced just nine balls and scored six runs. He was trapped LBW by Carse. India had sent in pacer Akash Deep as a nightwatchman. He was supposed to protect the main batters. But the move failed. Ben Stokes dismissed him in the last over of Day 4. That left India at 58/4 at stumps on Day 4 of the IND vs ENG 3rd Test.

Rahul and Pant were expected to fight back on the morning of the final day. They had done something similar in the first innings. But Archer broke that hope with a striking delivery. Pant, known for his counter-attacks, could not do much this time. He later dismissed Washington Sundar for a duck with a beautiful caught and bowled.

Excellent Return for Jofra Archer

Jofra Archer returned to the England XI for the IND vs ENG 3rd Test at Lord's and immediately made an impact. He bowled with the rhythm and pace he is known for while being in control. Earlier in the match, both teams scored 387 in their first innings. India then put England under pressure with the ball. Mohammed Siraj and Nitish Kumar Reddy took early wickets. Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett were dismissed cheaply. Siraj also dismissed Ollie Pope for just 4 runs.

England’s middle order tried to rebuild. Joe Root scored 40 and got support from Harry Brook, who made 23. Captain Ben Stokes added 33 runs. But Washington Sundar turned the game. He picked up four wickets and broke England’s momentum. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj finished the job with the ball as England were bowled out for 192 in their second innings.
India needs to chase 193 to win. But they are now 7 wickets down and still far away from the target. With Jadeja holding the key and Reddy next in, India’s hopes are alive. However, the task looks tough with England's bowlers breathing down their neck.
