Greece vs Scotland Preview

  • Tournament: UEFA Nations League
  • Date: 20th March, 2025
  • Kick-off Time: 07:45 PM GMT
  • Venue: Olympiako Stadium

Greece vs Scotland is set to take place on 21st March at the Georgios Stadium as both teams look to earn a place in the UEFA Nations League top tier. The match will decide which team gets promoted/relegated as Greece looks to join Europe's elite national teams in League A whereas Scotland looks to retain their spot in League A. Greece did well last year finishing as runners-up in League B Group 2 when they were drawn alongside England, Ireland and Finland. They started well winning their first four matchdays initially until they lost 3-0 to England but still managed to win their remaining two games. They could have received automatic qualification to League A with 15 points however England also had 15 points and attained the first spot on goal difference. Now, Greece in their best form in quite some time is potentially two matches away from League A as they faced Scotland.

Scotland initially in League Group 1 was almost demoted to League B as they narrowly escaped relegation on the last day. Their entire campaign was disappointing from the beginning drawn alongside Portugal, Croatia and Poland in League A Group 1. Scotland was going through a grim winless run for almost 10 matches up until they faced Croatia in their fifth match which they scored a late winner against 10-man Croatia. On the final day, Scotland beat Poland 2-1 to secure two wins in a row which is more than they have had in their past 16 games and secure a third-place finish as well. Scotland finished third in League A Group 1 with 7 points winning two matches, drawing one and losing three matches. The third-place finish gives them a chance to avoid relegation as they will battle it out against Greece to retain their spot in Europe's elite team which is League A.

Former Premier League player Che Adams now playing in the Serie A club FC Torino is definitely a player to watch out for. Che Adams has scored eight goals and assisted three times in 27 Serie A appearances. The striker was not in the squad for the first two matches in UEFA Nations League Group A against Poland and Portugal. Adams only played two matches against Croatia and Portugal and missed the last two matches because of a hamstring injury. Che Adams will definitely look to get into goalscoring form for his country as well.

Greece vs Scotland Prediction

Although Scotland has quite some fit players at their hands with the hosts missing a few crucial players, it still does not change the fact that Greece are better than them. Greece's current run of form is one of the best in the UEFA Nations League winning 16 of their past games out of a possible 24. Greece has also managed to score at least two goals in each match which signifies their excellent ability in the final third.
