Borussia Dortmund Vs Bodo Glimt Player Ratings

Summary

  • Julian Brandt’s brilliant brace stood out, but Dortmund’s defensive lapses allowed Bodo Glimt to stay in the game and earn a hard-fought draw.
  • Bodo Glimt showed great fighting spirit, equalising twice and denying Dortmund a much-needed win despite heavy attacking pressure.

What an absolutely breathless encounter this was at Signal Iduna Park. This Champions League match was a rollercoaster from start to finish. Borussia Dortmund will be kicking themselves for letting this one slip away. They looked utterly dominant for large spells of the game.

Julian Brandt was simply on another planet, grabbing a brilliant brace and looking like he'd single-handedly win the game for the home side. But you absolutely have to give immense credit to Bodø / Glimt. They showed incredible fight and resilience throughout. They never let their heads drop, even after going behind twice.

From our perspective, the Norwegian side fully deserved their point in the end. They absorbed so much pressure and hit back with stunning clinical efficiency when it mattered most. Haitam Aleesami's header and Jens Petter Hauge's composed finish were just rewards for their sheer determination. Ultimately a 2-2 draw feels like a fair result, but it's one that will surely sting for Dortmund and feel like a massive victory for the visitors.

Borussia Dortmund Player Ratings vs Bodo Glimt

Here are Borussia Dortmund Player Ratings vs Bodo Glimt

Goalkeeper

Gregor Kobel - 6.0: A difficult evening for the Dortmund keeper. He couldn't do much about either of the goals he conceded. Made a couple of decent saves but wasn't tested as much as his counterpart. From our perspective, it was a fairly standard, if ultimately frustrating, performance. He distributed the ball well, but was left exposed by his defense for the key moments.

Defenders

Waldemar Anton - N/A: We can't really give him a rating. His night was cruelly cut short by injury just after the half-hour mark. He looked solid enough in the early exchanges. A real shame for him and the team.

Nico Schlotterbeck - 7.0: The captain led from the back with his passing. He sprayed the ball around with incredible accuracy, especially with his long balls. Defensively he was mostly solid and made some crucial clearances. However, the defense as a unit was breached twice, which he has to take some responsibility for. A good, but not perfect, performance.

Aarón Anselmino - 6.5: A very busy night for the defender before he too was forced off with an injury. He was fantastic in the tackle, winning all four he attempted. He was also a threat on set-pieces, forcing a great save. However, what stood out to us was how he was dribbled past a couple of times, showing some vulnerability.

Midfielders

Yan Couto - 8.0: An electric performance down the right flank. He was a constant creative outlet, whipping in a staggering 11 crosses and creating five chances. His dribbling was a nightmare for the opposition defense. He was a massive part of Dortmund's attacking threat before being substituted. We were genuinely surprised to see him taken off.

Ramy Bensebaini - 7.0: What stood out to us was his defensive solidity. He won a remarkable eight out of his ten duels. He was a rock on the left side, making several important tackles. He wasn't as adventurous going forward as Couto but provided excellent balance to the team. A very disciplined and effective display.

Jobe Bellingham - 6.5: A typically industrious performance from the younger Bellingham. He was everywhere in midfield, getting stuck in with tackles and recovering the ball well. His passing was tidy and kept things moving. However, he didn't offer a huge amount in the final third and was sometimes overrun. A solid but unspectacular outing.

Felix Nmecha - 7.5: Dortmund's creative spark in the middle of the park. He created four key passes and was always looking to play a killer through ball. His link-up play with the forwards was a joy to watch at times. We did notice he lost a few duels, but his attacking contribution more than made up for it. A very good game.

Forwards

Julian Brandt - 9.0: The undisputed star of the show. Two goals from three shots tells its own story. He was clinical, composed, and simply a class above. His movement was intelligent, and he took both his goals with the confidence of a player at the top of his game. An absolutely outstanding performance and our clear Man of the Match.

Maximilian Beier - 6.0: It was a frustrating night for the forward. He got into great positions and had six shots, but his finishing was wayward. He missed two big chances that a player of his quality should be burying. He did provide an assist but from our perspective, his wastefulness cost his team. He'll be disappointed with his own performance.

Fábio Silva - 7.5: A really creative and unselfish performance. He was credited with one assist but created six chances in total, including two big ones. His movement and link-up play were excellent. The only downside was his own finishing, as he missed a big chance himself. A selfless and influential display nonetheless.

Substitutes

Substitutes - 6.0: Karim Adeyemi and Serhou Guirassy were brought on to find a winner but couldn't make the decisive impact. Emre Can and Julian Ryerson helped to see out the game after Bodø/Glimt's second equalizer. The changes didn't quite have the desired effect.

Manager

N. Kovač - 6.5: His team played some breathtaking attacking football and created enough chances to win several games. However, he'll be deeply frustrated by the defensive lapses that allowed Bodø / Glimt back into the game twice. The inability to hold a lead is a major concern. His tactics were good offensively, but the team's game management was lacking.

Bodo Glimt Player Ratings vs Borussia Dortmund

Here are Bodo Glimt Player Ratings vs Borussia Dortmund

Goalkeeper

Nikita Haikin - 8.5: An absolutely heroic performance. He made seven saves, several of which were spectacular stops from point-blank range. He single-handedly kept his team in the match when Dortmund were rampant. Without him, Bodø / Glimt would have been dead and buried. A commanding, confident, and game-saving display. He was a very close second for Man of the Match.

Defenders

Odin Luras Bjortuft - 7.0: A warrior at the back. He made a massive nine clearances and was a rock in the heart of the defence. He put his body on the line time and time again. His passing was perfect, not misplacing a single one. A really strong and resolute performance under immense pressure.

Haitam Aleesami - 6.0: A mixed bag of a game for the defender. He scored a great header to bring his team level, showing fantastic desire. However, we noted an error that led to a goal, a major blot on his copybook. It's tough to rate him, but the goal was crucial even with the mistake.

Fredrik Sjøvold - 6.0: A steady, if unremarkable, game at the back. He did his defensive duties without much fuss and recovered the ball well. He wasn't spectacular, but he didn't make any glaring errors either. A solid shift in a defense that was under the cosh for long periods.

Isak Dybvik Määttä - 5.5: He struggled against the pace and trickery of Dortmund's attackers. He lost possession quite a few times and his error led to a shot. He made a couple of clearances but looked a bit overwhelmed at times. A difficult night for him before being subbed off.

Midfielders

Patrick Berg - 7.5: The conductor in midfield. He delivered a perfect cross for the first goal and was a creative force throughout. He worked tirelessly, making tackles and interceptions. His range of passing kept his team ticking over. A really classy and influential midfield performance.

Jens Petter Hauge - 8.0: He was a thorn in Dortmund's side all night. He scored the crucial second equalizer with a calm finish. What stood out to us was his dribbling and tenacity, winning 11 duels. He was a constant threat and never stopped working for his team. An all-action, goalscoring display.

Ole Didrik Blomberg - 5.5: A very quiet game for the midfielder. He struggled to get involved in the play, losing possession cheaply on a number of occasions. He worked hard off the ball but offered very little going forward. It was no surprise to see him substituted.

Sondre Fet - 4.0: From our perspective, this was a performance to forget. He was hooked at halftime after a torrid 45 minutes. His two errors that led to shots put his team under needless pressure. He was constantly bypassed in midfield. A really tough night at the office.

Håkon Evjen - 7.0: A tireless worker for the cause. He popped up with the crucial assist for the second goal. His defensive contribution was immense, making four tackles and numerous ball recoveries. He might not have been the most eye-catching player, but his work rate was vital for the team.

Forwards

Kasper Høgh - 6.0: He led the line with spirit but was isolated for large parts of the game. He won a decent number of his duels but couldn't really test the goalkeeper. He worked hard to press the Dortmund defense but lacked any real service. A thankless task for him on the night.

Substitutes

Substitutes - 6.5: Ulrik Saltnes came on at half-time and helped shore up the midfield after Fet's poor first half. The other substitutes provided fresh legs and helped the team maintain their energy levels to see out the historic draw.

Manager

K. Knutsen - 8.0: An absolute tactical masterclass in resilience. His team was outplayed for long stretches but he kept them organized and believing. His halftime change was crucial. He set his team up to frustrate Dortmund and hit them on the counter, and it worked to perfection. He deserves immense credit for masterminding this result.
