India squad for australia 2025

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday (October 4) unveiled the Indian national cricket team’s squads for the white-tour of Australia. The two teams will be crossing swords with each other in the three-match ODI and five-match T20I series.

India’s tour of Australia 2025 will begin with a three-match ODI series. The first game of the series will be played in Perth on 19th October, while the second match is scheduled to be played on October 23. The last match is set to take place on October 25 in Sydney at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground.

Following that, the focus will turn towards the T20I series, which will begin on October 29 at Manuka Oval, Canberra. The series will mark India’s preparation for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, which will be played in February-March next year in India and Sri Lanka.

India ODI Squad for Australia Tour 2025

The India squad for the Australia series saw Shubman Gill being appointed as the new ODI skipper. He replaces Rohit Sharma in the role and this comes as a massive surprise as the senior batter recently guided India to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 win. The senior opener will be part of the series as a batter now and will have a point to prove. He will be making his return to the side alongside Virat Kohli.

The two stalwarts, who are also the best batsmen in the world, have already retired from the Tests and the T20Is and this will be their first appearance in Indian colors since the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

All-rounder Hardik Pandya has been ruled out of the ODIs with a quadriceps injury, which he sustained during the Asia Cup 2025 and reportedly has been advised to rest for four weeks. In his place, Nitish Kumar Reddy has a good opportunity to stake a claim in the 50-over side.

Shreyas Iyer is also back in Indian colors after a while and has been appointed as vice-captain. He wasn’t picked in the Asia Cup 2025 and that raised a lot of eyebrows. However, he is back in the ODI setup and will be holding a key for India in the middle-order. Ravindra Jadeja has been dropped, while Axar Patel and Washington Sundar are the two spin bowling all-rounders and share the spin bowling duties with Kuldeep Yadav. Here’s the India squad for Australia tour in ODIs:

Shubman Gill (C), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer (VC), Axar Patel, KL Rahul (WK), Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Harshit Rana, Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna, Dhruv Jurel (WK), Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Suryakumar Yadav (C), Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill (VC), Tilak Varma, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Shivam Dube, Axar Patel, Jitesh Sharma (WK), Varun Chakaravarthy, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, Harshit Rana, Sanju Samson (WK), Rinku Singh, Washington Sundar.
