Why is Shubman Gill Sister Being Abused Online After IND vs AFG 1st ODI?

Team India won the first ODI match against Afghanistan at Dharamshala to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. India's captain Shubman Gill played a defining knock and showed why he is regarded as one of the best ODI batsmen going around.

However, it has been found out that Shubman Gill sister Shahneel Gill received some abuses after the game through online platforms. Shubman Gill sister online abuse went viral when Shahneel was forced to put out a story on her Instagram account.

Why Shubman Gill Sister is Abused Online?

During the 6th over of India's innings, Shubman Gill was involved in a run out with the former India captain Rohit Sharma, who has a massive fan following. Rohit's fans were clearly upset with his wicket and blamed Gill for it.

Some of them even crossed the limits by throwing abusive comments towards Shahneel Gill, who couldn't stop herself from putting out a post on her Instagram handle for the fan toxicity.

Shahneel mentioned in her post about the fans' obsession with their idols slammed them for bringing out the players' families for an unfortunate incident. Further, she requested the fans to stop sending abusive comments to her and the family.

What Happened Between Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma During 1st ODI?

After playing the ball towards midwicket's left in the 4th ball of the 6th over, Rohit immediately set off for the run. However, the bowler Allah Ghazanfar ran across Gill to collect the ball, which prevented the latter to go for the run.

By the time Gill denied, Rohit was already halfway down the pitch. It was enough for the midwicket fielder to collect the ball and throw it to the wicketkeeper Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who effected an easy run out at the striker's end despite a dive from Rohit Sharma.

Rohit looked good but was dismissed for 16 runs. Since he is one of the most famous cricketers in the world, Rohit has a huge fan following. His fans took to social media after the incident to blame Shubman Gill for the wicket.

Meanwhile, the IND vs AFG 1st ODI was shortened due to rain. The match was reduced to 25 overs per innings with Afghanistan batting first. On the back of Rahmanullah Gurbaz's fantastic ton, Afghanistan scored a competitive 194.

During the chase, India started well but lost Rohit to a run out. However, Rohit Sharma Shubman Gill run out controversy didn't affect India as they continued to score freely. Skipper Gill scored an unbeaten 84 off 66 balls to take India home with valuable contributions from Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul.
